Fail Your Way To Success; The Power Of Low Expectations; 17 strategies to BOOST your SALES.
When a child is learning to walk and falls 100 times, they never think “Maybe this isn’t for me.”
This week, I was invited to share my story on a podcast.
The host invited me to talk about "my successes" to inspire his community.
But all I have done is talk about my failures 🤪 and how others should fail too.
Lemme explain.
Failing is proof that one is trying, innovating, taking risks, and expanding their comfort zones.
At every new stage of our growth, we are faced with new challenges. Challenges we did not expect. When you run your own business, so many things can go wrong...
You may lose an important deal. A team member may fail to deliver on an important transaction. A client may not pay. A contractor may violate a non-compete agreement, etc.
I have experienced all these scenarios and other ones 🙈. Each time, I felt like failing.
How do you feel when you fail as a business owner? Do you have such high expectations for yourself that when something goes wrong, you become your own worst enemy, as if you could have prevented it in some way?
The entrepreneurial journey is tough enough, we don´t need to be our worst enemy.
So over the past few years, I have been learning to be kind to myself and remembering the following. Hope it helps you too.
We Are Only Human.
Can we expect ourselves to know everything, predict the future, and be perfect? Absolutely not.
So, let's start by being kind to ourselves, and embrace the journey as well as our perfect flaws. We are only human ❤️️.
Failure is a Learning Opportunity
When we fail, we receive direct feedback on what doesn't work, pushing us to find improved ways of doing things. How can you avoid the same mistake in the future?
James Dyson: It took him 5,126 failed prototypes over 15 years to finally create the successful Dyson vacuum cleaner.
Failure Builds Resilience and Prepares For Growth
Each failure builds resilience - the ability to bounce back. The path of entrepreneurship is not a straight line. Resilience allows us to persist when facing challenges.
Our greatest growth comes from our most challenging times, don't you agree?
Failure Fosters Innovation: The fear of failure can ignite innovation.
By embracing failure, we allow ourselves to take risks to think outside the box.
Thomas Edison: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
Maintain Perspective: There is no business owner on Earth who will tell you that they have never failed. If they do, they may be delusional.
Practice Resilience: Develop coping strategies, such as mindfulness, breathing exercises, remembering that the rollercoaster is normal, staying active, or talking with supportive advisors.
Keep the Big Picture in Mind: Failure is just one chapter in your LARGER journey. Remember your “Why”.
Embrace 'Done' Over 'Perfect': It's about progress, not perfection.
THE SUPERPOWER OF HAVING LOW EXPECTATIONS
I recently discovered "The Morgan Housel Podcasts." I ❤️️ it.
Most entrepreneurs I know, including myself, have high expectations and we can be extremely hard on ourselves.
The higher the expectation… the greater the disappointment and feeling of failure 😳.
Take a listen and hope you will find it insightful! Worth your time.
