Let´s get to know each other.
I am an investor in 70+ startups. How did I get there?
8-9 years ago, in the process of learning more about the startup ecosystem, I applied for a job as an office manager at one of the largest accelerators in the Nordics.
During the interview, they asked me: "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?".
Me: "Investing in startups."
I didn't get the job, ahah.
As for investing in startups, I didn't wait a decade.
A few months later, I founded my company and launched thehub.io in Norway - the largest job platform for startups to recruit talent in the Nordics.
Over the following two years, I took a very small salary and invested the rest in startups.
Two years later, I founded Grundr Academy, an online platform for founders to gain knowledge and build their network with experts.
Back then, reputable ecosystem players (also from the accelerator I mention above) told me: "Who needs an online platform 😆? We have accelerators and incubators for that purpose".
A year later, covid hit, and everything went online. Who is laughing now?
My platform was acquired, and I invested everything in TheFactory.no, Norway's fintech, proptech, and retail tech accelerator/early-stage VC fund.
I am now an investor in MANY startups.
In 2021, I have a vision for a new company.
What should I call it? The Visionary Company!
A company providing scale-ups with fundraising and scaling advisory services.
Again, I reinvest the money I make, in startups and VC funds.
December 2022, other investors and I join forces and start The Visionary VC. We are very active.
That´s how I got to 70+ investments.
This path has not been easy... Crying under the shower, wondering why the hell am I doing this to myself?! I have been there.
Being an entrepreneur is challenging. We have to learn to accept and surrender to chaos and uncertainty. It´s tough.
That´s why I have so much respect for entrepreneurs and continue supporting them.
We have a dream and we dare to give it a try.
I remember that younger me, sitting in that office during the interview, with stars in her eyes. She wanted one day to become an angel investor.
And I feel the journey has just begun.
For the skeptical ones → here is the overview of some of my investments in Norway till 2021
Now, let´s go back to helping you get investors! 🙌
The INVESTOR DIGEST - How to communicate with potential investors, build trust, nurture the relationship, and get them onboard.
Step into the shoes of your investors and it will help you understand the importance of The Investor Newsletter.
How do you communicate with potential investors?
The ultimate tool to nurture and keep relationships warm with investors: The Investor Newsletter, also called The Investor Digest.
A) If you already have investors, stay in touch with them via an Investor Newsletter to make it easier for you to ask for help; get them to make intros to potential clients or other investors; or help you with business strategy, or ask them to reinvest.
Your current investors are part of your team. Don´t be shy. Make the most of them.
NURTURE THE RELATIONSHIP.
B) If you are preparing for fundraising:
The Investor Newsletter allows you to build trust, and show your progress before starting fundraising.
Ask potential investors, if you can add them to your bimonthly or quarterly investor newsletter where you share updates and achievements.
BEFORE THAT 🙏- as usual - make sure you have profiled them; figure out if they invest in companies like yours, including industry, stage, ticket size, and geo.
VCs and investors are busy. Target the more junior profiles within their team, the associates or startup scouts, for example. Their job is to be the eyes and ears of the investors and spot hot startups before everyone else.
How to get them on your investor email list?
Please don´t just add them. You will end up in the spam folder 🗑
